DINKs

For all of you who have wondered, and even those who haven't, we do NOT plan to remain DINKs forever. What is a DINK, you may ask??! Double Income, No Kids. I was asked yesterday at church, if that is our plan--remain childless. Though the thought has crossed my mind, and left just as quickly, we do plan to have kids. Eventually. So rest easy, there will eventually be little Barowski's for you to babysit and love on. So for now, HAVE SOME PATIENCE people. Stop drinkin' the Chesapeake water and SLOW the oh-so-lovely questions down.

What!? You mean you weren't planning on having a baby the first year you were married! Won't you guys have just been married 3 years in April? Not long at all. I think it's pretty insensitive to ask folks such personal questions in public. At least that's what I thought when I was asked, by people who never talked to me otherwise! I could have had multiple miscarriages, for all they knew!

I read a hilarious list of responses to take people aback when they ask this question once on my friend's blog, but I can't find it now or I'd send it to you.

but you still didn't answer the question of when. I need to know!!!!

Libby, Good for you to say this! Asking people these type of questions is so awful! I remember right after I had the miscarriage last year someone asked me when we were going to have kids. Um, hello....rude. I will never ask anyone personal ?'s like that again (unless, of course, it's in deep, meaningful conversation). We are so young, there's no need to rush (ha, I say this and I have 5 weeks left!). Anyway, just know that not everyone has common sense! And thank you so much for coming to my shower, it really meant a lot to me. How many people can say that they've been friends with someone for 23 years?? xoxo, Laura

Lib, I get the "Aren't you done yet???" Ha! I think I should have 8 more out of spite. (Just kidding:)

Love ya! And, by the way, I think I've been VERY patiently waiting for little Barowski's ;)

Oh my word. I laughed so hard when I read this!! I think the only thing better than this though is being asked (excitedly) if you ARE pregnant. Nothing makes you feel better than that. Thank you for having the guts to say this! I think we started getting this question when we'd been married for about 4 months - craziness!

Just tell the next ignoramus who asks such things, "No kids in the immediate future. We just like rolling in the hay for the fun of it. How about YOU?"
