It's a BOY!

No, Miguel and I aren't pregnant....BUT, we are expecting a puppy! Two weeks from today, we will get our 8 week old, male Golden Retriever. I can honestly say that I think about this little guy all day long. My thoughts drift from his personality, to the activities we'll do with him, and most often to a name for him.

Therein lies our predicament! We absolutely cannot decide on a name (or even come up with viable options!). HELP! If you have any great and unique dog names, please post them for us! So far, my favorite, and only name choice is Ciro, which in a Spanish dialect means "sun." Appropriate for his coloring. Feel free to post any names, no matter how random! And when we finally decide on a name, I'll be sure to post--along with a picture!

Oooo, Congratulations! I LOVE Golden Retrievers! Ours was named Ben (we didn't name him) and died of cancer some years ago. I'll have to bring Josh and try to get him attached so he'll want one. :) He like Pugs and Boxers, ugh! Anyway, the only thing is I'm used to living with lots of land and run room. I'm not sure I'd do well with a dog in the house. The cat's already driving me a little crazy with all her hair!

I didn't think you'd make such an important, anticipated announcement on your blog...but one can never be sure.
So, if you name the dog, "Ciro", are you going to roll that "r" like a true hispanic? :)
How 'bout taking the Cannon's brainchild, "Puppy"? :)
I had a single friend in Indiana who named her dog, "Honey", so that she could come home at the end of her day and say, "Hi Honey. I'm home." Ha ha...true story.
I'm not very helpful, am I?

Libby, I'm thrilled for you guys. I know how much your hubby's wanted a big dog, and you've wanted some type of offspring to nurture. Goldens are wonderful, they really are. If you roll the "r" it sounds like Zero? My hubby thinks that what ours is worth. heehehee. I prefer you didn't name him Ben, but it's not my dog. I wanted to name our dog Sunny, until I saw so many others with that name. So we named her Molly. Why on earth did I think THAT was original. I've read research that dogs respond well to 2-syllable names that end with "y". Happy naming. Can't wait to meet the new addition.

Awww yay! Goldens are the best. Good luck with the puppy stage, I've heard it's like having a baby...sleepless nights.

Thank you Ms. Zo!! I agree that Ciro sounds too much like Zero. What about Perro Callejero-- it means mutt ;) you could just call him Callejero?? : ) or Soleado (Sunny)?? or to play off of the whole puppy idea: Perrito??? That could be cute!

Ok, here are the names currently in the running....Xander, Cusco, Bolivar, Cortez (yeah conquistador!!!), Nelson. What do you think?

If those are the dog names ya'll have picked out, it should prove quite entertaining when ya'll have a child! :)
I vote for Pedro! :)

I know, our kids are screwed (and will end up screwed up for sure!)

Te Lippincotts have a big Lab named Puerco. It means "piggish" literally translated (I think) which befits a piggish eater, a pig for affection, etc.

Of the names you suggested, my top two are Xander (love X names) and Nelson.
Sach: Perrito is adorable. But caution: perritos grow up fast! What is the Spanish word for "shadow'? Goldens are exactly that. They'll follow you into the bathroom like a toddler.

Seguidor? Means "follower." You could call him Guiddy for short.
