...of a new mom.
1. We put Isabel in her crib starting night #1, AND we turned off the monitor.
2. I only use a sleep positioner so that Isabel won't get a flat head.
3. When she cries, I laugh. Her cries are so sweet.
4. I am convinced that she doesn't sleep well after her 4:00 feeding because she knows Miguel is home. She loves to be held by her daddy.
5. At times, I really do think she's goofy looking.
Ok, ladies, time to spill!

You turned off the monitor? I never would've guessed. No wonder you've been looking so rested :)
oh this is cute, it cracked me up! I can say, though that the turning off of the monitor surprised me. But hey, I'm sure it's not necessary. I had the monitor up so loud one time on vacation, and Gabe's sound machine was on AND we went in perpetually to check on him ALL WHILE always hushing everyone to be quiet. AND he was upstairs. I was minorly obsessed.
This was great!!
I too thought my daughter was a bit goofy looking...in her own perfect way of course cause she was mine!
She also was quickly moved to her crib after coming home because neither of us could get a wink of sleep! Newborns are so noisy when they sleep! This time I have a bassinet ready, but who am I kidding?!
Having a Daddy's girl is definately a GOOD thing!
And along with moving her to her crib, WE ALSO turned off the monitor beside our bed. She was just down the hall and it's amazing how you can still predict when they need ya even in the middle of the night.
Enjoy that sweetpea of yours!
My list is too long for your comment box, so I'll just mention a few.
1. I didn't like being a mom and wanted to trade my boys in for almost anything else for about the first 4 months of their lives.
2. I left my baby girl, Bella, at the hospital nursery for the first several days of her life while I went home to rest and wait for her to get better.
3. I let my boys "cry it out" once only to finally check on them and see that they were laying in their own spit up....and, we're talking lots of it.
4. I'm really not the most natural mom or best mom but am super grateful there's grace for all my shortcomings and sin!
Loved this post. Can't believe a new mom would turn off the monitor. Good for you.
1. I always kept the bassinet right beside me. If my babies weren't crying, they were way too quiet, and I was always checking to see if they were breathing (put my finger under their nose if I couldn't see the chest rise. I'm convinced it was because of the term paper I'd done in high school on SIDS). That's also why I put my newborn on their side, not on their tummies or back.
2. I once walked away from Stephen an out an outdoor flea market when he was a baby. It was cold and I had Sarah w/ me , looking for a coat. I got distracted by something for sale and took my hands off his stroller, walked away...and didn't come back till the PA speaker voice was threatening to call cops about a parent who left a baby in aisle 1. (I was in aisle 9 before I realized it was MY baby and I was the horrible, neglectful mother!)
3. I once walked out of the house with diaper bag, baby seat, and other stuff, but no baby. I forgot to pack the baby. If he didn't fuss on the couchm, I probably would've gotten to the car before I realized Ben wasn't in the seat.
Yeah, never used our monitors. The house is too small to bother anyway. And they always were in the crib. I don't think I'd ever want a bassinet in our room! :)
Just added mine to my blog today :)

Libby, You are hysterical! I'm impressed that you put her in her crib from night 1-we planned on it, but caved when all she did was scream! That's why she slept in her swing for 4 months! I'll have to think of some confessions...I know I have PLENTY! Love ya and glad you are feeling better! Laura
A few confessions of a 49 year mother of a 26 and 23-year-old :-)
1. Never had a monitor... it was 1982 :-)
2. Put babies on their stomachs... didn't know that was a bad thing.
3. Let Amanda just be in her crib and cry because I was so frustrated. People would come to see us, but had to leave because she was squalling!
4. Was suicidal for about 30 minutes 4 weeks after Brent was born. Danny took both kids out of the trailer and left me to figure it out... I did. I'm still here :-)
5. Never, ever slept in bed with babies. My Mom said that was the quickest way to ruin a marriage!
6. I don't think I was totally IN LOVE with my babies. I became a much better mother as they got older. I would have thrown myself in front of a bus for them, though. I NEVER worked in the nursery at church!
oh, and I'm pretty sure I always WAY overdressed my kids to make sure they were never cold. Thankfully, they couldn't speak so I will never feel guilty about that one!
I never used a monitor... they'll cry loud enough if they really need you! :)
Ok...here are some of my confessions!
1. I turn on Sesame Street every morning for my 14 mo. old daughter just so I can get my cup of coffee in! (Caffeine makes Elmo more tolerable also :))
2. I haven't found a good way to wash the soap out of Allison's hair yet.....she stands in the tub and I just dump water over her head. Poor thing looks like a drowned rat when I am done!
3. I have bought many "extra" things in the store to just keep Allison content....a balloon, a Big Bird toothbrush...I never knew grocery shopping was going to be this hard!!!
Enjoy that little girl! This post has made my morning :)!!!
Love, Krissi
Wow, I really identify with Krissi.
1.) i thought my daughter looked like my grandfather when she was first born.
2.) my daughter (she's 2) watches almost an hour of Elmo's World every morning. i refuse to feel guilty about it either.
3.) i totally put my newborn son in the nursery every night when we were in the hospital. sleep, people!
4.)my son (he's 4 months old) slept in his carseat for the first 3 months of his life because he didn't like sleeping on his back, and i am terrified of SIDS, so i couldn't put him on his stomach.
5.) i occasionally propped the bottle for my daughter, and i do it sometimes for my son now too. if i had eight arms, i wouldn't do it.

OK...I thought of some.
1. I still sit in the back seat of the car with Annabelle-she's 8 1/2 months old.
2. I bought a new carseat for her but I refuse to use it b/c I'm afraid she won't sleep in it (the car is one of the only places she sleeps).
3. Up until this past week, I nursed her every 2 hours-AROUND THE CLOCK!
4. Once I finally get Annabelle to sleep, I am so very paranoid that she'll wake up. I even "ssshh" my husband in my sleep!
5. She has yet to put herself to sleep-I rock her to sleep for every nap and at night.
I am sure there are MILLIONS more, but this is what I thought of!
Laura
you ladies have officially made me feel better about my mommy-ing!!!! love you all!!!
Last week I gave Lyla Benadryl 3 nights in a row so that we could finally get some sleep.
